From the Gulf to the Tundra, A Digital Marketer’s Story

About a decade ago, long before I was helping clients with digital marketing in Minneapolis, I sat on a boat in the Gulf of Mexico during some down time from work and began teaching myself HTML and CSS with the aid of a wonderful book from SitePoint. I worked through the exercises, stumbled through my first website, and felt very satisfied with the outcome. I felt accomplished. Thus, began the passion that brought me to where I am today.

The seeds of that passion were in me before that, though. You might even say they were native to me. Being innately curious and having a tendency towards tenacity when solving problems, I was drawn to technology at a very young age. Though we didn’t have one in my house as a child, I would jump at the chance to be on a computer. I was completely fascinated with them. Back then, the only thing I knew how to do was open Paint and scribble around, but even that was mesmerizing for me.

It was a Compaq with Mini-Tower, Windows 98, and a blazing fast 56k kbps dial-up connection. Ahh, those were the days! That computer gave me my first taste of the web, and like most of the rest of my generation, I quickly learned to navigate the world of the internet.

Back to the future, and my web development skills have gotten better. However, I really have a passion and talent for working with my clients to uncover the core of their business need, and then developing a solution around that need. Whether their need requires a creative implementation of WordPress, custom software, or a well-rounded digital marketing strategy, I know how to listen, and in due time, ask the right questions in order to bring to light what their true needs are.
